Matthew Cahill is an ordinary man leading a simple life...until a shocking accident changes everything. Now he can see a nightmarish netherworld of unspeakable evil and horrific violence that nobody else does...
For Cahill, each day is a journey into a dark world he knows nothing about...a quest for the answers to who he is and what he has become...and a fight to save us, and his soul, from the clutches of pure evil.
Kinda sounds a bit like a Dean Koontz novel doesn't it? Well that may be the case, but this is one of the punchiest novellas I've read in a while.
After being frozen in a snow drift for three months Cahill is mysteriously resurrected, by who what and why are not expalined here. Flitting between the present day and the events leading up to Cahill being frozen. It appears that cahill can now see those who are about to die. His best friend Andy, whom Cahill has looked out for and protected since childhood, is about to finally snap. And it's up to Cahill to sort it out.
Goldberg and Rabkin, have created one hell of an opener for this series. Yes it's short, but what you get is one hell of a ride, filled with great characters, and a possible series spanning big baddie that will chill your socks off. They manage to create a story full of gore suspense, and humour, that will grab you from the first page and won't release you from it's icy grasp until the final page.
As I said before this is a punchy novel, in fact it's punchier than a Dundonian after two bottles of Buckfast. The future instalments will have guest authors such as Harry Shannon, David McAfee, Joel Goldman and Bill Crider.
Do yourselves a favour folks and download this book now. I guarantee you love it.
